Frequently Asked Questions

I hope this page will answer common questions that I receive from time to time. If you do not see a question that pertains to your needs, please review the "Services" section, as I have tried to explain the services completely. If you still need help, please email me and I will be glad to help.

1. Why does YourCaptures.com use digital format instead of film?

Film format has always been the preferred method of photo development for as long as images have been taken. The digital camera industry has jumped amazing leaps in recent years in improving photo resolution and clarity. At this point in time, it is impossible to tell the difference between the two formats with the naked eye. As a result, the flexibility of the digital equipment along with new conceptual photo techniques now makes the digital format more efficient and cost effective for the customer. Also, the chemicals required for film development are considered toxic and are very expensive. Along with great successes in the digital camera industry, extremely powerful digital imagery software programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom were developed. These programs make bad photographs taken in digital format much more recoverable, no matter the conditions. These same photographs taken in film would most likely end up in the darkroom waste bin.

2. Why does YourCaptures.com not offer paper prints?

I recognize your photos mean much to you. Photo paper and printers vary greatly in quality and costs. At this time I know of no professional printer that I would feel comfortable with printing your otherwise great photos. You may have already established a printer you feel most comfortable with.

3. Do you offer discounts?

I offer discounts to active duty military families, retired military, first responders (law enforcement, EMS, EMT, firefighters and others), government employees, civic organizations and church groups. Others may be included on an individual basis.

4. How far will YourCaptures travel?

I primarily provide services to customers within the Brazos Valley area. However, I will travel anywhere within the south, central and east Texas areas. Travel fees are only applied to customers that are outside Brazos County. I regret this fee is needed, but due to increasing travel costs, it is necessary.

5. Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes. Due to the nature of my professional service, it is necessary. I will try to provide a timely service as soon as possible. My lead times change constantly but, it should not take longer than a week.

6. How long will I wait for my proofs to be on YourCaptures.com?

Normally, I can place your proofs on line within 24-hours, excluding holidays and providing no editing is necessary. I will email or call you once they are on line. If you require, I will also give you a password to your gallery once the session is complete. This password may be shared with anyone you wish to view your captures. Please remember, you are responsible for your password and you should take care to read the disclaimer regarding wrongful use on the site.

7. Can I order more photos later?

Of course you can! Just log on to YourCaptures.com, enter your own personal gallery (details provided during purchase) and make your order.

8. Can you digitally enhance photos?

Yes I can! I can direct you to samples photos, which I have manipulated. This service may delay on line times.

9. Can YourCaptures protect my images and privacy?

I make every effort to protect my customers' images and privacy concerning any of our services. All photo shoots are recorded on CD or DVD and filed with the customers' information. Upon your request, your images will be posted in a personal gallery protected by a password, so only you and the people you wish, can view and order them.

10. What are your hours of operation?

At this point in time, I am currently accepting appointments on nights, Monday-Friday, from 6-9 in the Brazos Valley area and at any time on weekends and holidays, except Christmas and New Years Day.
